Located at 3867 metres above the sea level, it is a mystical town of rituals and honor for the apus (the mountain gods), it is characterized by the relationship between man and the South American camelids like alpaca and lama. SIBAYO

Constructions made of river stone.

From the Aymara word "shiwajayo" which means "constructions made of river stone" since the term jayo means "river stone"; This would explain the presence of the stone-based constructions of the entire town of Sibayo.

   

   

   

   

TISCO

Land of the Huallata

The Tisqueños are known as the wallatas ch’arki, which means the one that makes charqui from the wallata, a particular bird in the high areas of the Colca Valley.

Full day tour to Callali and Sibayo

Itinerary: Departure at 6:30 a.m. from Arequipa to the town of Callali, reception, we visit the Viewpoint of the Enchanted Castle, ritual to the Mother Earth and the Apus (mountain gods), for women special ritual "Choqueshisha" (water), Callalli church, explanation of medicinal plants, typical lunch, then we go to Sibayo and there we take a walk with lamas to the suspension bridge, later we go to the Ecomuseum, production of alpaca fiber - textile art, in the afternoon we go back to the city of Arequipa, arrival approx. at 5:30 p. m.

Includes: Tourist transport, guide in Spanish and English, reception and tourist activities carried out by the Callali and Sibayo Communities, lunch with traditional products from the area (trout, alpaca meat and quinoa).

Two-day tour to Callali, Sibayo and Tisco

Itinerary:

1. day: Departure at 6:30 a.m. from Arequipa to the town of Callali, reception, we visit the Viewpoint of the Enchanted Castle, ritual to the Mother Earth and the Apus (mountain gods), for women special ritual "Choqueshisha" (water), Callalli church, explanation of medicinal plants, typical lunch, then we go to Sibayo and there we take a walk with lamas to the suspension bridge, later we go to the Ecomuseum, production of alpaca fiber - textile art, traditional music with typical costumes - we dance together with the local people, spend the night in a private house with a shared bathroom - coexistence with Sibayo families.

2. day: Departure at 6:00 a. m. from Sibayo to Tisco, where we will visit the Samacota Lagoon, a ranch of lamas and alpacas, we continue to Tisco, walk through the town, church, convent and Qaqacarcel (old jail), after lunch we return to Arequipa, arrival approx. at 6:30 p.m.
